She did a great job...18 x 24 on board.

I have to figure what I want to be the focus and mute out others...you don't know where to let your eyes rest with all the color and detail. when it drys some, I will also mute out the shadows...I think they're too dark.

New Koi - Patti

This is the one I'm working on for the museum show in aug...similar to the other koi, but with the three koi top left, their shadow showing bottom left. do you think it distracts?

This is the commission piece and a close up. planning on adding circles to indicate some breaking surface. It's a 24 x 30 stretched on gallery wrap.

Better Boa

I'm happier with the boa. I even added little floating feathers.

On to the violin.....and where in the world (on a smaller scale, the painting) am I going to put the bow?

20x16 oil and some weird stuff on canvas

Here's an angle so you can see without the glare and a straight on so you can see composition.

The yellow looks more powerful in the photo than real life...however, it's dark and glary even IRL. I'll wait til tomorrow in better light to decide about the amount of glazing I'll do on the shadow side.

I wanted it to look like a colorful boa tossed down just before practice was over...don't think is does....don't know how to correct. Suggestions?

I'm finally getting back to this one. I reworked the mouth, the arm and the fan. I added the braclets.

24 x 30 Early stages....there are many little guys you can't see that are deep within, and I'll be adding more large ones...adding abstract stuff to make it look like the original. I need to try and find a reference of Kois' breaking the surface as the client requested some doing that. Might use that little orange guy you did on one...he had so much personality.

Started on that commission piece today but it's very wet so decided to try and finish up this one I started. I'll have to check that corner and see if it's as lopsided as it looks on the screen, but otherwise, what do you think?

Drew's Self Portrait

Student Drew - age 8. 5 x 7 oil on board. He stressed over that nose, painting off and back on probably 5 times. Reminded me of myself...If you know Drew, you know it looks a lot like him. The Title is a tribute to the one Kimberly did, which keeps winning awards everytime she enters. Maybe Drew will this fall.
